For the fifth release of Thé Chaud Records, Jeff The Fool and Wilt associate their skills to make a deep sentimental EP shaped for the clubs.
Esteemed proponent of outré dancefloor manoeuvres, Superconscious Records co-founder Fantastic Man makes his Kalahari debut proper.Having shown up for rework duties on a couple of occasions, we find the mutable oddball at his most trippy and esoteric. In fact, OYSTER42 is the handiwork of a producer who has his formula of balmy, lysergic dance music down to an exact science.‘Alltogethernow’ gets on a swaggering cosmic tip, all sub-loaded and celestial as levitational arpeggios and funked-up groove dovetail to mesmeric effect. ‘Alpha’, on the other hand, takes a vision quest through enchanted jungle terrain. Initiating with a hypnotic ritual chant, it’s tunnelling and murkily psychedelic; occulted dancefloor rapture tailor-made for the wormhole interior. As if it were some artefact from a distant ‘90s utopia, Bioxy’ recalls a time when warehouse parties littered the Melbourne landscape. Where its predecessor evokes ceremony and ritual, this is an anachronistic, dilated flashback to simpler times. FM kicks it languid and life-affirming on the closing number. Radiant synth lines flutter with a gentle headiness as ‘Trojan Force’ takes us full circle with a reprise of the rainforest FX.
Legend has it that the mysterious Hansel J. Tripwire was locked away at the abandoned Riverview Mental Hospital with nothing but a typewriter, a calculator and a Commodore 64 computer for company. ‘Sounds from the Sanitarium’ is the soundtrack to the party he had.On the A, an urgent bassline propels the track forwards, balanced by glitchey samples that shoot around crisp percussion. The B is the funkier of the two, with a similarly chunky bassline providing the backdrop for shuffling high-hats and robotic synths to spiral above. The EP is both menacing and playful, and is sure to cause some seriously wiggy peak-time and after-hours moments. AGT Records is rescuing this weapon from the vaults, all in good time.
Gamine strikes back with the fourth release, this time by Signal Corps, a duo consisting of Tom Butcher and Mike Perkowitz. Stepping between the nicer side of electro and punchy new beat, this solid five-tracker is a serious tool for dancefloors and afterhours. Groovy rhythmic arps and beautiful acidic melodies are combined to produce the perfect blend between old-school flavour and contemporary effectiveness.Resurfacing a precious gem released back in 2013, we once again make justice by pressing it into pristine 12” polyvinyl glory. Enjoy!
Chat Noir is proud to present the second volume of this compilation. The main goal remains the same (to highligh the new french scene) but the shape of it changes somewhat. The «Vinyl Sampler» will include 6 titles from the digital version. The project aims to show the diversity of the new French house scene by highlighting different sub-genres of this movement: ambient, deephouse, tech-house, acid, minimal, italodisco, electrofunk… The artists present on this compilation
For its eighth release Griffé welcomes Rambal Cochet aka Volta Cab. The prolific electronic producer has been on the circuit for more than ten years and has explored a wide musical spectrum: from house to techno and new wave to electro. More recently his productions have taken a more progressive & trancey turn. On "Unknown Pharmacy" the producer is blending some trancey dancefloor weapons (Pharmacom & Muscle Fields) with crazy breaks (Autismo1) and a downtempo track (Underworld) to close the record in a calmer note. Out June 10th.
