Buraye

Transcendence EP …

For our sixth release we welcome a young producer hailing from Bogota, Colombia. Buraye has been working on his sound for almost a decade now and he’s the co-founder of the From The Void Above label, having released great records from the like of Muten, Eliaz and Do Or Die. His Transcendence EP will be released on Griffé in september 2021. The record consists of four high-energy dance-floor oriented tracks with acid, trancey and electro elements. Hybrid productions bringing both analogue and digital components to create a fractal and entheogen mood.

The Jaffa Kid

Second Frequencies …

The Jaffa Kid's prolific music-making is well known at this point, with a wide-ranging palette that takes in the full range of electronic genres, from jungle to techno to ambient. But here on his second EP for Gated - appropriately titled Second Frequencies - the boy named after a biscuit (or is it a cake?) goes deep. Really deep.Kicking off with the beatless but driving Phased For Days, the EP has a kind of relentless hypnotism to it, with Trinian's almost 7 minutes of spaced out electro.Flip to the B and the acid comes to the fore, with War On Words and its addictive 303 line pulsing over the Kid's signature pads.Tangential throws in some breaks under gritty acid, and Not The Way rounds out the EP with a truly poignant melodic beatdown.

El Niño Andrés

Life Is Worth Living …

Life is Worth Living, officially a second LP from El Niño Andrés, comes 9 years after its debut LP "Más Dinero Más Problemas", but sound wise it's still walking on the borderline between house, jazz and soul. El Niño's usual combination of Rhodes and Moog improvisations on top of house and jazz-funk drum-lines is present on all album tracks, with live sax additions on "Come Closer" and "Mercy Mercy". Album is an uptempo affair, but as usual with Jackie Brown releases, not your straightforward 4x4 routine - poly-rhythms and percussion drive "Wasting Your Life" and "Soul", while "The Approach of Midnight" sounds like it could have been placed straight into a Tenet soundtrack LP.

Central

Metric EP …

Having proactively set the pace of the Danish scene for the past few years under many guises and just as many records for an array of premium labels, Regelbau spearhead Natal Zaks alias Central, aka Picture this time around, joins the Kalahari Oyster Cult fold with a quartet of fresh-minded, bouncy joints taking the classic Aarhus vibes for a trip into further hypermodern melodic grounds.
